First Friday Success!

What a fun time we had with Open Studio at the First Friday event on October 3rd, 2025. We enjoyed chatting with each and every visitor, and a collector purchased three of Elsa’s paintings. What a rewarding evening.

Joyce Ellen Turner Biography

I create both visual art and creative writing. My education includes an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, a BS (general biology) and a BA (philosophy) from Winthrop University, two years of Great Books Program study at St. John’s College in Annapolis, and coursework from both UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University Continuing Studies.

I have taken visual art classes and workshops through the Art Students League in New York, City Art in Columbia, SC, the Arts Council of York County. I have published fiction, poetry and nonfiction. Currently I am at work on a memoir about my life as a team over-the-road trucker in the 1990s.
